Joseph Acevedo

Joseph Acevedo is a Managing Director in the Alternative Solutions Group (ASG) within BlackRock Alternative Investors (BAI).

Mr. Acevedo has over 20 years of financial services experience with a focus on private market investment in underserved markets. He has served as board director or observer to portfolio companies across the healthcare, business services, media, technology, and financial services industries. He has executed private investment transactions across buyouts, growth equity, mezzanine, and convertible debt.

Mr. Acevedo was previously a co-founder and Managing Director of MoonSail Capital, LLC, a lower middle-market private equity firm, where he was responsible for sourcing, due diligence, structuring, and monitoring of direct investments. Mr. Acevedo was a Principal at Pharos Capital Group where he held primary responsibility for managing transaction teams, leading due diligence efforts, and monitoring portfolio companies. Prior thereto, Mr. Acevedo was Director of Business Development at Univision, where he launched and led new business initiatives. At JP Morgan and SG Cowen, Mr. Acevedo was an Associate in the Latin American equity research group, covering the media, telecommunications, mining, and steel industries. He began his career in 1996 as a Financial Analyst structuring fixed income transactions for government municipalities at Merrill Lynch.

Mr. Acevedo graduated from Harvard College with an A.B., cum laude, in Government and holds an M.B.A. in Finance from the Wharton School, where he was a Robert A. Toigo Fellow. He is a Board Member and in the Executive Committee of the New America Alliance (NAA) and Board Member and Treasurer of the Toigo Alumni Endowment.
